Free camping, friendly faces, and feeling part of something great — why not give stewarding a go?
Why Become a Steward?
Free Camping - Yep, you read that right… FREE CAMPING! As a thank you for being part of the stewarding team, the DA will cover your camping fees for the meet.
Meet New People - Stewarding is a brilliant way to meet fellow members. You’ll be one of the first friendly faces people see when they arrive, making it especially great if you’re new to the group and want to get to know everyone.
Give Something Back - By volunteering as a steward, you help make our camping meets possible. Your support keeps everything running smoothly and ensures everyone has a great time.
Sounds Good – So What Does It Involve?
Don’t worry, it’s much easier than it sounds! Stewarding mainly involves:
Welcoming campers as they arrive
Completing meet sheets and taking payments
Letting people know where facilities are (such as the elsan point)
Helping campers find a good place to pitch
Simple tasks, lots of friendly chats, and plenty of appreciation!
Will I Be Tied to My Pitch?
Not at all! Stewarding doesn’t mean being stuck in one place all weekend. Roles can be shared, and even helping out for a few hours while other stewards pop out is hugely helpful and very much appreciated.
Count Me In – How Do I Sign Up?
Visit the What’s On page to see which meets you think you are interested in. Fill out the form if you can steward a meet or even if you would like to know some more information and one of the committee will get back to you.
Even if you can’t steward for the whole meet, any time you can offer will be warmly welcomed and greatly appreciated.
Not keen on stewarding but still want to help out?
We’re always happy to hear from people who have ideas or would like to help create some evening entertainment at our meets. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy — it could be as simple as running a quiz or helping in someway to organise a themed weekend.
If that sounds like something you’d enjoy, we’d love to hear from you — please do get in touch!
