🌿South Downs District Association - Year in Review

What a fantastic year its been for the South Downs DA! From Scottish celebration to 60’s-themed parties, our members have made every meet one to remember. Here’s a look back at some of the highlights that made 2025 so special.

🕺South Eastern Region Dinner Dance - A Scottish Start to the Year

We kicked off the year in style as South Downs members joined friends and fellow campers - including some non member guest - at the South Eastern Region Dinner Dance, held at the Cumberland hotel.

As the event fell on Burns Night, a wonderful Scottish theme ran throughout the evening. Many guests arrived dressed for the occasion - with several donning traditional kilts - and the night featured lively dancing, including the Gay Gordon!

Many guests made a weekend of it, staying at the hotel to enjoy the full experience.

🐣 Easter Meet — Sunshine After the Showers

Our Easter meet got the season off to a great start. The weather looked uncertain at first, but the sun soon made an appearance, and we were able to make full use of the grass pitches after all.

It turned into a lovely weekend filled with laughter, good company, and plenty of fresh air — a reminder that the South Downs DA spirit always shines through, whatever the forecast!

🗳️ AGM — Strong Committee, Fresh Faces Welcome

This year’s AGM saw a fantastic show of support and energy from our members. We’re lucky to have a strong, dedicated committee leading the way, but we’re always on the lookout for new members to join in and share fresh ideas.
If you’ve been thinking about getting more involved — now’s the perfect time!

🎪 New Party Tents for Social Evenings

Big news! We’ve invested in new party tents to make our social evenings even better. These have already added comfort, space, and plenty of atmosphere to our events — whatever the weather.

🏆 South Eastern Region Anniversary Meet — Trophies for South Downs!

A huge congratulations to our South Downs members who brought home trophies from the South Eastern Region Anniversary Meet!
Their hard work and team spirit truly paid off. We’re already looking forward to defending those titles — and hopefully adding a few more next year.

We’d love to see more members join in and support the team at next years SER Meet.

🎉 Birthday Meet — A 60s Celebration to Remember

This year’s Birthday Meet took us back in time with a groovy 60s theme! Attendance was up from last year, and the fancy dress didn’t disappoint — from flower power to the scooby gang, everyone looked fantastic.
A huge thank-you to everyone who joined in the fun.

✈️ Sam’s Lake THS — Battle of Britain Weekend

Our THS at Sam’s Lake was truly one to remember! Timed perfectly with the Battle of Britain weekend, campers were treated to spectacular aerial displays right from the campsite — including Spitfires and even the Red Arrows flying overhead.
It was a fantastic setting, with great views, good company, and plenty of excitement in the skies above

💃 Berwick Meet — Line Dancing & a Surprise Celebrity Greeting

At Berwick, members showed off their new line-dancing skills, and we had an unforgettable moment when Trevor received a birthday message from none other than Sam Fox!
It’s safe to say that evening Trevor will never forget

🎭 THS & Arundel Festival — A Brilliant Turnout

Our Temporary Holiday Site at Arundel was well supported once again, with members enjoying the Arundel Festival atmosphere and great company all round.
Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a success.

🎄 End-of-Year Get-Together — Festive Cheer at Berwick Village Hall

To round off a brilliant year, members gathered at Berwick Village Hall for a warm and cheerful end-of-season get-together.
The evening featured a tasty ploughman’s lunch and a traditional haggis, bringing a hearty Scottish twist to the celebrations.
Laughter filled the hall as everyone shared memories of the year gone by and wished each other an early Merry Christmas and a bon voyage until next year.

It was the perfect way to close the season — good food, great company, and plenty of South Downs spirit.

🌟 Looking Ahead

As we look toward another year of camping, friendship, and fun, we’d love to welcome even more members to join our South Downs DA family. Whether you’re a regular camper or new to the club, there’s always a warm welcome waiting for you.

Here’s to another great year be it under canvas, or in a motorhome/caravan— see you at the next meet!
